Aspect ratio problem

Postby molybdenum » 01 Aug 2009 16:20

I'm using VLC 1.0.1 on Vista Home Premium (32 bit version.)

I've been trying to play a DVD in VLC player but the aspect ratio has been displaying incorrectly. The DVD is anamorphic and has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. I've had the same problem with some other discs with the same aspect ratio but they do not all display in the same way so adding a custom aspect ratio only solves the problem for a single movie. I've installed VLC on another computer and unfortunately I'm having the same problem.

As displayed in VLC:

Played in WMP:

The part of the image taken up by the actual movie image is 1137x370 pixels in VLC player versus 1102x481 in Windows Media Player. The screen shots were re-sized so they would not take up so much space.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide to help me fix this.
