VLC 1.0.1 chokes on running Full HD resolution Videos

hi,

when i try to run Full HD resolution 1920x1080 videos on VLC 1.0.1 it tends to freeze up or produce lots of glitches on the screen. i checked with Tools->Media information->statistics and found that there were many lost frames.this problem is found in all formats of Full HD such as wmv, mov, mpeg-2 etc...

this problem is not found on any other lower HD resolution sizes such as 1280x720 or 1440x1080 which runs smoothly.

i used HD videos downloaded from the following sources
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/hd/HDGal ... ive_1.html
http://www.highdefforum.com/high-defini ... -list.html

and in case of streaming of such full HD videos i found that in addition to lost frames there were lot of corrupted frames received at the client side.

is this a problem with the vlc player or is my machine the problem? what is the ideal m/c configuration to run Full HD resolution videos both locally and via streaming.

i have the following configuration Pentium-5 3Ghz CPU, Windows XP SP3, 2GB RAM, 100 Mbps LAN network(for streaming) and my monitor supports a resolution of upto 1440x900.

with regards,
A

You need patience. A LOT of patience... Or another player.

hi Lotesdere,

thanks for the reply. i did not know that this was a known issue already so pls do forgive me for that :). i just downloaded some HD videos and tried playing them, and found that they were stuttering a lot and when nothing i did seemed to fix the problem, i posted it here.

and in my experience very few players out there match VLC's range of features and versatility. so, will eagerly wait for the fix :).

thanks, again.
