Backwards/forwards video seeking doesn't work

Hi, I've had this problem well before version 1.0.
I watch recorded DVB-T transport streams (.TS files) recorded with WinTV v7. The video and 'telx' subtitles work fine.
When I use forwards/backwards seek shortcuts [SHIFT/ALT/CTRL + RIGHT/LEFT], the video just hangs for half a second then continues playing.
The shortcuts are using the default settings, reassigning the shortcuts doesn't change it.
This behaviour happens with Windows and Linux versions at least.
The mouse wheel seeks backwards/forwards when the cursor is over the timeline but I can't find the setting to reduce its seek amount.
I have tested other video files and the seek shortcuts work, with varying degrees of artefacting, or crashing.
Seeking works perfectly with no artefacts in Media Player Classic.
Here is a 11.2 MB recording I made with WinTV for first-hand evaluation: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=678VG0T0 (md5: a3298943005ca79c2e6130f724c5027e)
I hope there is a solution so I can stop having to click the timeline just to go backwards by 5 seconds but end up way off.
