Extremely loud pops/clicks when FastForwarding DivX files?

Hi all,

I'm using VLC 0.8.1 under OS X (10.3.7) and I'm experiencing very loud pops and clicks when I fast-forward certain files. Here's info for a file, for example, which causes pops and clicks:

Stream0 -> Codec -> DX50
Stream1 -> Codec -> mpga
-> Type -> Audio
-> Channels -> 2
-> Sample Rate -> 48000Hz
-> Bitrate -> 128 kb/s
Meta Info - Setting -> HAS_INDEX_IS_INTERLEAVED

Anyone know what is going on?
