VLC Video problem, PLEASE HELP!!

Hi guys,
I've got maaaaayor issues... My picture gets stuck every minute or so, for a few seconds, not that long... Often gets distorted too... The sound doesn't have ANY problems... It just runs as normally...
I've not been able to test this with other media players coz neither iTunes, RealPlayer, Windows Media.... Or anything I download seems to wanna make a sound during .avi files -.-
Also... When I just play music, it gets stuck pretty often too... Strange since the audio in movies has no problem...
Cmon ppl, please help... VLC has been the MultiMediaPlayer from heaven for me... Can this be fixed?
I've tought about it being something wrong with my Mac itself and not VLC... But no idea what...
I run Mac OS X, I can do just about anything without getting any problems (4gigs and stuff, generation before this one stuff)
