snapshot causes crash

Tried to take a snapshot in vlc 1.0, and it closes the vid. Upon restarting vlc, a msg box says it crashed. Same thing happens with a different avi file.

Yes, this is probably a Win2k issue.

xp sp3. Since there are no other complaints about this then perhaps it's just my pc, but I don't see why - the previous version snapshotted just fine for me, and then installed the new version. No other change to my system.
I'll uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.

I have the same problem. Although I have only tried it with dvd's it seems that this is a general issue with this version.
I run winXP, sp3, 3GB ram and a Radeon 4770. I would very much appreciate a solution to this.

same problem here on XP SP3.

the only workarounds i find are changing output module (DirectX and Direct3D excluded), or rolling back to VLC 0.99

I think it should be a known issue at this time

p.s.

I got an ATI Radeon too (as other XP users with this bug, i noticed) with 9.6 official catalyst drivers... maybe could be device related (although everything works well in 0.99)?

I've got radeon with 9.7 catalyst, and the new 1.1 vlc still crashes.
Howerver, brad1ipo's suggestion to change the output module works. thx
