Problem with DVD file playback

Greetings - I'm trying to play DVD files using VLC 1.0, in the same way that I used VLC v 0.9.x to play DVD files.

The DVD files are in a typical structure - i.e. a folder (typically called video_ts), with bup, ifo, vob files within.

With previous VLC versions (i.e. through v 0.9.9), I would simply open the DVD by going to Media / Open Folder and selecting the folder (i.e. video_ts).

Now, I get the below error message, and the video won't play. I tried numerous DVDs with the same result. I also reinstalled v0.9.9 - which still worked - and then reinstalled v1.0.0, and again received the error. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Error message

thanks very much - that worked.

presumably the development team decided to no longer let DVD files be opened via the 0.9.x 'media / open folder' method. I'd always done it that way and had never even tried 'open disc'. doh! :)
