I've manually set the directory I'd like the snapshot to save screens to, but even after I save it in the preferences the screens continue to save in a default "My Pictures" folder.

I am using the latest version of VLC Player that I am aware of, 1.0.0-rc4 Goldeneye

It working fine for me with VLC 1.0.0 release on both Linux and Windows.
