[OSX] Speeding up VLC with OpenGL and hardware IDCT?

A few folks are discussing ways to speed up VLC so it doesn't stutter on older machines and how Apple's DVD player is speeding things up.

Could any of the devs comment and maybe post comments over at MacAch?
