Getting DVD menu to work

Hi everyone.

I'm a newbie with what may be a dumb question, but I haven't found an answer in the documentation or the forums.

When VLC brings up the DVD's own menu and waits for a selection I can't make it work. Clicking on "Play" or "Languages" or whatever does nothing. Effectively the movie freezes up at the menu screen. I can get around it by going in VLC directly to the first VOB file of the movie, but surely there's a way to use the DVD's own menu from inside VLC?
