I know how to swtich between different audiodevices, but I'd like to use both devices simultaneously. Is there a way to achieve it?
If not it will be possible to use a second jack of my multichannel soundcard as front-out. It's possible to convert stereo to 2 jacks (i.e. front and rear jacks)?

On Linux this is do-able with the PulseAudio output and a correctly configured PulseAudio.

As you're using Windows, you're screwed.

ohh... sounds not so good. There's no way? Neither the one nor the other possibility?
Is there any hardware solution? Something like an adapter (1 3,5mm jack --> 2 3,5mm jacks)?

VLC can only output to a single adapter at a time. That device can of course have more than one output, but that depends on the hardware.

Writing support for multiple adapters would be rather pointless as there is no way to sync them.

It need help with this but in a different way. I have to install a media server in a medical centre. I want one computer with 2 dual head video cards to display a video in each monitor. That part I have done, but I want to seperate the audio. I want Monitor 1: Video1 : to play the audio on Sound card 1 front channel stereo. I want Monitor 2 to display video 2 and the audio to sound card 1 rear channel stereo. and so on and so on... so it looks like this M1V1A1Front : M2V2A1Rear : M3V3A2Front : M4V4A2Rear

Is there a way to play VLC sound on 2 different audio devices at the same time?

I think, this request becomes more popular in the future because more and more people use HDMI video cards. (e.g ATI 4xxx HD and above)
These cards have their own sound device integrated. Yo you have at least 2 sound cards, the ATI sound device and the onboard/normal sound card.

For most (short) video clips - I want the VLC sound output on my normal output device (2 desktop speakers)
But for long movies, i want to turn on my TV and sit on the couch. But there is of course no sound on the TV speakers. (Only if I choose them in the preferences everytime i switch. This is no solution)
It would be great, if VLC were able to use both audio devices (TV and PC speakers) at the same time.
If this were able - I only have to turn my TV on, choose the right TV channel for HDMI and turn off the PC speakers. (cause of the sync problem, which could be discussed anywhere - but not here please^^)

This player is actually able to use 2 sound devices. It works very good on Win XP (and Vista)

There is also a portable version for a quick test available.
Maybe this works for you. But my favorite player skin have some problems with Windows 7 RC1.
So I have to switch back to VLC.

My Notebook also have a HDMI output with integrated sound, but I've another concern. So there are allready even two issues to solve with a multioutput audio
