Why is VLC not able to play this video?

When I start a video then VLC is launched and the slider is walking from left to right but no video is visible.

The video has the following specs (shown from GSpot):

http://www.picamatic.com/show/2009/04/2 ... 01x568.png

The Classic (not MS) Mediaplyer for example CAN play the video

So whats wrong?

What is the diff between the FourCC code DX50 and DIVX ?

Sounds like the index might be kinda funky :)

Please post a sample of this video.

Ok, I could upload a small sample snippet.

But is there a way to upload say 1 MB to this forum?

I found no "attach" option when posting

1 MB is a bit short maybe, 5 MB would be better.

You can't attach files to posts on this forum, so use one of the free file hosting sites like Zshare or Mediafire or Megaupload etc...

Hmm whenever I split the video the resulting chunks are playable in VLC. So splitted chunk do not serve as sample.

What I detected is that the not playable original full movie has the following container spec:

Multipart OpenDML AVI (2 parts)

while the splitted chunks have just (according to GSpot info tool):

OpenDML (AVI v2.0)

This leads to the conclusion that VLC can not handle either "Multipart" AVIs or AVIs with non v2.0 spec

Can you confirm this?
