With the latest version(s) (i.e. 0.9.8a and 0.9.9) I had problems to configure vlc to play a proper fullscreen loop of mp4 and mov programs. Every time the file has been played, vlc closes and opens the file quickly with the effect of showing the desktop for a fraction of a second.
After an hour of testing and changing settings I switched back to release 0.8.6i and it works perfectly there… a seamless loop with accurate full screen
