Play video from RAM

Postby tobi123 » 18 Apr 2009 11:54

Hi guys..
First I want to thank you for your work on VLC player!!
It is by far the best player around!

My question is.. is it posible to read a hole video into ram? (for example a 700MB xvid movie..)
Because I think this could save battery on my laptop because the system could switch off the harddrive while playing.
So is there any option which makes VLC read the whole movie at once?

I think this can be done only with a ramdrive. There are some ramdrive softwares on the internet.

This would be possible, but it is not implemented.
