VLC MP does not read .mp3 tags

The portable version is not related to/packaged by the VideoLAN team AFAIK. Try the file with an official build of VLC 0.9.8a:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
If that works then it is an issue with the portable version, otherwise could you post a sample file.

I`ve tried,thank you.
It looks like VLCMP does not read tag unless file was already played,althought the file is already added to the playlist.

I have tested these three versions with Automatically preparse files enabled,and problem persists:

VLC 0.9.8a should display metadata in MP3 files (ID3v1/v2 tags) when added to the playlist. Try deleting preferences and cache files (go to "Start >> Run..." and enter %appdata% and press OK. Then delete the "vlc" folder).
Then on VLC play a file, and whilst it is playing add another file to the playlist (via the Playlist dialog box's "Add file...") . The metadata should be displayed (the only thing that probably won't be is the duration).
