Hi,

I have a Netbased PVR that records TV shows. Files end with ".ts" tag. I don't know much else about the files (sry, I'm kind of dumb on these matters). I usually download the files to my computer before watching them (instead of streaming).

Observed problems:
1. JUMP doesn't work (jump forward 10 sec/30 sec etc.)
2. No length for the file is shown

Are those 2 problems related?
Is there any way to get the JUMP to work? Eg. add the length data to the file somehow (= easily)

It is VERY old and without any answers. It, however, desrcibes exactly my problem.

I usally play these with my MacMini but the same problem exists on PC too. I haven't tried the Linux version.

I'm not a specialist of video formats but, to my recollection, .ts is a "Transport Stream". Because it is done for real-time streaming, length and jumping are irrelevant; more precisely, there are managed by the streaming server itself.

Try the following:
1. Download your .ts file
2. Add it to the VLC playlist
3. In the Streaming/Exporting Wizard:

• 3.1. Choose Transcode/Save
  3.2. Choose your file
  3.3. UNCHECK Transcode video and Transcode audio
  3.4. Select MPEG PS as encapsulation method
  3.5. Choose a destination
  3.6. ...and finally export the movie

If it still does not work, try with other available encapsulation methods.
