Crashes when selects video device name?

Posted: 18 Nov 2004 02:24
by bmasri
Hi,

I just downloaded version 0.8.1 and also 0.8.0. In both versions, when i select the camera for the video device name in the direct show dialog, it crashes on both Win XP and Win2k when i hit OK or Apply. The camera is Creative WEBCAM Notebook.

Any known issues with this test case?

Thanks

Hi was doing a transcode to upd (tsmpeg, mpg4, mpga) stream to multicast on a wireless network.. with this version it does not seem to like to convert to mono output from stereo... I tried many different configs and it always crash vlc if I reduce the audio channels from 2 to 1 . works fine with other versions of VLC..

Bug report!

In src/misc/httpd.c - httpd_TLSHostNew()

/* Cannot re-use host if it uses TLS/SSL */
//if( &httpd->host->p_tls != NULL )
if( httpd->host->p_tls != NULL )

For re-use httpd's port.

Problem with PVR-350

Hi, I've got a PVR-350 and it doesn't seem to work correctly with vlc 0.8.1. I can open the stream but the audio sounds pretty bad and the video keeps going to black, stuttering etc.
The messages keep on saying nasty things like

"ps warning: garbage at input
ps warning: garbage at input
libmpeg2 warning: invalid picture encountered
libmpeg2 warning: invalid picture encountered
main warning: late picture skipped (3326625000)

on and on. All this happens on a P4 3 GHz HT, 1 GB RAM, Rage128 running WinXP SP2. Anything I can do about it? Or is it a problem of the client itself?
Thanks in advance!

Both 0.8.1 and 0.8.0 crash the windows xp when I tried to capture my web camera "CamMaestro 4.0 AU". Is it because of the webcam or OS ? Any release to fix this problem? Version 0.7.0 has no this problem.

Thanks,
Derek

Progress Bar

Hi, i don't understand, why progress bar was removed in 0.81 version, when playing streaming video. I use VLC player to play movies directly from FTP server. Now i can play movies only from beginning.
/excuse me for my EN/

same here, win xp does a reboot after selecting the webcam as the outstream. no problems with v0.72

Both version 0.8.1 and 0.8.0 work well after I set the video size as 640 x 480. One tricky thing is that I have to leave a space character between the two numbers. VLC crashes my windows XP if there is no space, or the video size is not set at all.

thanx!

Hi !

I'm running Linux, Mandrake 10.1 official. I have a sound issue to report .......
Video runs ok when streaming, but the audio ......tsk, tsk, tsk..........
Not good.

I'm not sure if it's a configuration problem or a bug somewhere, but there ain't nobody who can help me out......,so....... I assume this is a bug.

All my downloads runs great in Mplayer, kaffeine or whatever without the clipping issue from VLC ?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!

VLC really got something ! I really like this prog and it has a lot of potensial, but I think I'll wait for the next version :wink:

That's all folks !

late picture skipping of doom!

I keep getting late frame skipping with files wich work just fine in just about anything else.... :cry: :cry: :cry: I've tryed wmp and geexbox, and those files play perfectly, only videolan have this problems... :shock:
This only happens with certain parts with lot's of motion on certain files.
Not long ago, i've uploaded a sample file ([AU]GALERIANS_RION - Movie promo[1D16B663].avi) wich did that over here using videolan in my humble amd duron 1200+ @850 Mhz, 256 Mb Ram (32 shared), SiS 630/730 integrated videocard with latest drivers, SiS 7018 integrated soundcard, Win XP pro SP1, Koepi's XviD-1.0.2-29082004 final.
If you devs need it, i can upload the sample file again with a log and such, like i did last time :P
And... What happened with the w32 nightly builds dowload page? I can't seem to reach it anymore... keep getting "the document contains no data" (yes, i use ffox), have you moved it or something?

the server that produces the nightly builds has crashed very severly. it will return, but it will take time.

The same server also hosted ALL our samples btw, which we have ALL lost.

by Alexsource
Daamn... I'll happily upload that and some other samples when you guys manage to fix that server :wink:

by Alexsource
OK, I'm uploading some samples. All zip files include: the .avi, the log, and a readme with some details.
galerians.zip -> this is the one that i'd uploaded loooong ago.
storm riders sample.zip
storm riders sample 2.zip -> another sample of the same movie :P
NOTE: in the last 2, i've noticed that the skipping is lower (less time) than in the actual complete file...
I've used "VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1 (build 2366/release) [Based on VirtualDub 1.5.10 by Avery Lee]" to cut the samples, using direct stream copy.
BTW, also VLC says that the audio stream is MPGA, while VDM says they are some sort of VBR.
I might upload another sample after x-mas. ;)
Merry x-mas everyone!

Posted: 28 Dec 2004 13:23
by The DJ
MPGA is a codec, VBR (Variable Bit Rate) is the bitrate of such an audio stream.

Posted: 29 Dec 2004 13:41
by Alexsource
Well, yes i know that... The thing is, that VLC shows a bitrate, but it does not report wether it is constant or a calculated average of a VBR stream. I think it would be nice to add it (to report wether the audio streams are CBR or VBR) to the media info dialog ;)
I'll try to upload another late picture skipped sample today...

Uploading another late picture skipped sample -> police story 2 sample.zip ;)

In the older vlc versions you could have a negative number in the delay window so the subtitles would hurry up instead of delay, you cant do that anymore which sucks!

That should be fixed indeed...
Keep reminding us :)

When I play a DVD, it seems to be a bug in the length of the film: for example, with a Stargate DVD, VLC says me a episode is 20-30 minutes length but it's 45-50 min. in real life.
Ho, the Episode III trailer does not have sound at all when played with VideoLAN.
