Scene detection in VLC?

Is VLC able to analyze scene changes? I would like to extract an still image at every scene change in order to have a quick preview of a video (some time ago I've used a tool called sceneanalyzer to does this). Is this possible?

If this is not. Is it possible to tell VLC to extract a still image every N frames?

Thanks in advance for any clues....

(Excuse-me if this is a repeated question, I've been able to found it in the forum)

Well, it is not possible, but it could be doable with a video filter, based on the motion detection filter.

In case you still need an answer to that question (or as a reference for other readers), I hope I can help you with this tutorial:

You mean doable for us (users) using VLC (as is)?
Or doable for you (developers) to add a new video filter?
