Whenever I play a DVD, when i choose "Next" (chapter), It starts the DVD all over again from the first sequence before the menu. This is on the Mac version by the way. This is the only app that can play dvd's properly on my widescreen TV because i can set the aspect ratio to 5:4 and the resolution in system preferences to 720 x 576. Not being able to skip chapters or go back is a real pain! Please help somebody!

I removed the next functionality from the button because it was buggy for some users. DVD navigation will be reworked in the upcoming versions, and we hope this will improve correctness and behaviour.

I have troubles playing AAC Audio on Mac OS X.3.
Sound sounds 'bad', and only the left Channel is playing. mplayer is able to handle this correctly (uses libfaad2).

This is a .mkv file, using mpeg4 as video codec.

Here comes some debug output from mplayer (iam not familiar with vlc, please tell me how to produce similar debugging output)

I'm running FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE. GCC version 3.2.3.

The first OSX version of 0.7.0 was missing the FLAC decoder. If you have problems with FLAC on OSX, please download 0.7.0 again.

The new vlc 070 wont load subtitles anymore.
the demux sub in advance wont let me load .srt subs or any subs for that matter.
and i used the input advanced options to try to put it in there and that didnt work either.

there are many ppl complainin bout subs...
what can be done?
otherwise the client is great, dubbed films go perfect
and the audio playin capabilities under win98... it kills the cpu more than winamp

Suggestion to forum mods: maybe this announce should be locked and the different bug reports separated into single threads, because otherwise this will become very cluttered in no time...

Now to the Mac user problems: the audio track of your Matroska file seems to be a 6ch track, so you have to downmix it somehow to stereo, because there is no Apple hard- and software that can properly handle multichannel AAC audio tracks yet.

Furthermore you didn't mention how the 6ch audio track was encoded, with Nero AAC or FAAC? Which settings were used, maybe HE AAC in Nero? There were problems with early Nero versions and correct multichannel layout, so the version number is important, too.

And concerning the FAAD2 library in VLC: this should be updated, too, because there have been a lot of changes since Aug 2003, also concerning multichannel playback.

0.7.0 should also have correct channels mapping for multi-channels aac tracks (previous versions didn't support that correctly).

Well, in "FAAD2 terms" a Release Candidate 2 from August last year is very outdated, for sure... You could e.g. try this RC3 from the download section of Audiocoding.com, but it is outdated, too:

So the best would be to get a fresh CVS version, because there have been big changes in the last few weeks (you can browse the web access to FAAD2's CVS directory).

Probably yes, I only mentioned it as the last possibility for any multichannel problems. The original poster most likely did not use the downmix-to-stereo option (I hope VLC has one?) on his Apple computer and/or encoded with an outdated Nero version.

cvs sucks.
you have no idea what it means to have to maintain 20 cvs repositories for your vlc release. And you never know what kind of bug is in one of those versions. With true release you at least know what you are getting.

vlc rarely uses cvs versions for their releases.
And vlc has no true downmix to stereo. only a 2/6 channels to 2 channels one. it is something that truly should be fixed.

This depends... e.g. Menno just confirmed in the Audiocoding.com forum that there was a bug concerning invalid input file names with the Linux compile of FAAD2 that he has fixed recently.

Anyhow, the RC3 is from Nov 14, 2003, so it doesn't use the new mp4 library either which was one of the biggest changes lately (checked in on Nov 21, 2003).

And vlc has no true downmix to stereo. only a 2/6 channels to 2 channels one. it is something that truly should be fixed.

I see... FAAD2 has an own option to do that for multichannel AAC/MP4 files, but I guess you've already noticed that.
