Strange Color Issues I can't Fix

I am running the latest version of VLC on my PC. And the colors are messed up. I've tried EVERYTHING. Changing codecs, messing with Preferences, reinstalling...Nothing fixes the problem. I don't have any graphics card that's set incorrectly, and the videos themselves are not at fault.

I know this is a common problem, but someone help me!

Try deleting VLC's preferences and cache files (use forum search for how).

Nope. Zero change. Colors are still messed up.

I mentioned in the first post that I do not HAVE an nVidia graphics card.

Try disabling video overlay. If that doesn't help try changing the video output module (try Windows GDI then e.g. OpenGL):

I tried GDI AND OpenGL and the video didn't even display with those two.

Does this occur for all videos? If so it sounds like a graphics driver issue. Although you said you don't have a graphics card, try updating/reinstalling you on board graphics card drivers.

I did an upgrade to my graphics drivers, but my vids still fail to run right in VLC. G Gundam runs fine in Windows Media Player 11 (which fixes that), but my one other vid (Interstella 5555) shows no picture in Windows Media Player and has messed up colors in VLC.

Is there a codec that allows .avi files to work properly with WMP?

Codec packs (e.g. K-Lite) can be used with WMP.

Try deleting preferences and cache files again after the driver update (i.e. delete the "vlc" directory in %appdata% directory).

Nope, no change.

OK, well a codec pack like K-Lite with WMP might be a good alternative:
http://www.codecguide.com/

VLC uses it's own codecs so codec packs won't make any difference for VLC. The OpenGL video output module should not output messed up colours at least, but if it does for some reason and you have delete preferences/cache then I'm not sure why there is still an issue, other than graphics drivers being problematic.

Cheers, Arite.

Well, K-Lite seemed to be what I needed, so I decided to just ditch VLC and stick with Windows Media Player 11.

Thanks for all the help!
