Cannot get output other than .ts

I downloaded this cool app to play .flv files that I copied from a purchased music CD.
They play great and I like the program to play some DVDs that will not in WMP.
I am trying to convert 2 .flv music videos to a format supported by my video/mp3 player.
I can use .avi or .wmv files.
I am using version 9.6 Greshenko however when I check for updates I get a message that says an unexpected error occured while requesting update.
Anyway I can only get it to make .ts or .ps files that will play in WMP if I say try to play anyway after the format not recognized try to play anyway message pops up.
I have tried to use custom and wmv defaults but can not get the output I want.
I make sure the file is fully loaded (30 megs) then hit stop and then select media convert and so on.
Here is what it looks like whe I try to save it :
V2,vb=1024,scale=1,acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=wav,dst=C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\taylor.ps}}

What am I doing wrong?
I think step by step instructions may be in order even though I can usually figure these kind of applications out.
Just don't get it.
Thanks in advance
Lex

I doubt that you should use mux = wav for mp3.

I thought about that and let it do windows (wmv/asf) and it will stream it but then how do I save it in the wmv format in order to sync it to the mp3 player?
Here is what i get:
:sout=#transcode{vcodec=WMV2,vb=800,scale=1,acodec=wma,ab=128,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=asf,dst=taylor1}}

What do I call it in the (file) section of output, here i called it taylor1.
Thanks for the reply,
Lex

wmv is asf. Just rename the file to wmv.
