Stopping playback while DVD intro

Hello everybody,

I encountered the following problem:
I opened the DVD Elizabeth with VLC Player. After choosing German as the preffered language on the first menu a black Attention (or Achtung) textscreen appears. It should actually run 18 seconds, but after 8 seconds the playback stops and the second black textscreen does not appear. The playback stops and cannot be continued. However, VLC player does not freeze or crash in anyway. This problem happens either with the original DVD as well as with an exact ISO-Image. And this problem does not occur when I put the DVD in my hardware DVD player or open it with PowerDVD on Windows XP.

It seems to me that VLC player leaves out some intro and/or anti-piracy sequences (in this case of Universal) that other DVD-players play. Maybe this leaving out of sequences or not playing the chapters in the correct order leads into a mulfunction of stopping the playback. The capter or play buttons do not works in this case so that I cannot switch this scene. The only way to continue the playback is to click on Root out of the navigation menu of VLC player. Then the main menu appears, I can click on and play everything works fine.

Nevertheless, I would like to know why this playback problem happenes with this DVD with VLC player ?!
Maybe it is just a matter of preferences. However, I cannot find any matching option at the advanced settings.

Maybe someone can help me please?!
Thanky You!

Try the no menu option.
