In VLC 0.8.0 I get no sound anymore when playing a DTS coded wav (as produced by surcode). Also when I played a 5.1 ac3 (a58) ripped from a DVD-Video the channel mapping was wrong (all the front sounbd seem to go to the front right speaker, whereas the surround channels seem to be played in the front left.
I use Win XP SP2, C-Media 5.1 onboard audio.

After I uninstalled 0.8.0 and re-installed 0.7.2 both problems disappeared

As stated in the release notes :

NOTE: This release doesn't include DTS audio decoding support. DTS Inc.
claims that distributing this software with DTS decoding capabilities is
a violation of their patent EP 864 146. At DTS Inc. request, we decided,
as a precautionary measure, to provisionally suspend the distribution of
VLC with DTS decoding capabilities while reviewing DTS Inc. claim. This
is not an acknowledgement of the validity of the claim.

As for the ac3 problem and the channel ordering, this is a known bug and has been fixed so expect a 0.8.1 out very soon.

Sorry I missed the release notes. I did read the change log but didn't notice.
So I'll stay at 0.7.2 then :(
