Horrendous, user unfriendly design

Every few months or so I download VLC to see if some of the silly aspects of its design have been rectified to enable me to use it as a permanent media player and every time I go away disappointed.

Why do I get this every time I play a video clip:

Can anyone view a 64:1 aspect ratio? I think not. OK, so I drag the edges to expand the video clip to a viewable size. But how do I get it to REMEMBER AND KEEP the damn size??!! OK, I look around in the preferences. Voila! I find a Zoom video 2x (or more) option! Great, but does it work after saving the setting? Nope, I go back to the 64:1 pencil thin view.

VLC 0.96 has once again been moved to its proper place, the recycle bin. Will check back in a few months. Even though I'm sure there is a way to fix this, it should be CRYSTAL CLEAR and not require a new user to look through dozens of tabs and settings and fiddle around endlessly to get a damn logical view size.

Cheers

Agree here.
Cannot change the default Zoom video so it's stuck at 0.00.
Meaning resizing everythime I use the player.

Damn.
