I am suspecting that this is caused because VLC expects FLV timestamps to start at 0 which is true in a file but not with a stream.

The stream works fine with winamp.

don't know how good it is though since it an American station...

What? mp3 in flv?

Yes MP3 in FLV.

FLV allows different audio codec. I might miss one or 2 but out of my memory you can stuff

mp3, ADPCM, Nellymoser or AAC in FLV.

It should be well documented in Adobe FLV format open specs...
