Subtitles are out of sync

Subtitles (.srt) are out of sync with video and have been like that since the 3.10.2004 nightly build. The 2.10. nightly (vlc-macosx-200410020303.dmg) and older work fine. It seems that the subtitles are displaying too fast.
I'm using OS X 10.3.5.

There is an option in the subtitles-open-dialogue to set the delay for subtitles. It should solve your problem.
Btw. If you are using nightly builds, you should use recent ones. Quite a lot has been changed during the last month.

Delaying the subtitles doesn't help since the problem is not in the subtitles. As I pointed out, they work correctly with older versions of VLC and other players. I am using the latest nightly and the problem occurs in it too. It must be something that changed after the 2.10. nightly build that has broken them since the same subtitles have worked fine before.
P.s. The subtitles delay feature doesn't seem to work either. If I set specify a value for it, the subtitles don't show up at all.

I just tried with a set of SRT (aka Subrip) subtitles. Worked exactly as it is supposed to. It would help if you could expand a bit on what kind of subtitles you are playing

I've tried .sub, .srt and VobSub. Of these, VobSubs were the only ones that played in sync. Please see post by Alexsource in another thread
viewtopic.php?t=4714&start=46. He seems to have the same problem. After reading his post I tried playing a file encoded with fixed bitrate audio and it was in correct sync (this was .sub).
