Support for .sub/.idx subtitles?

Does VLC suppport .sub/.idx subtitles? I can't figure it out... Right now, I'm converting them to .srt and then playing.

Does any Mac OS X player support .sub/.idx subs?

Vlc does not support this at the moment, but it may in the future. I think MPlayer support it
