How to transcode easily ?

I'm really disappointed, transcoding was so easy in the 8ish, and i just spent 30mn trying to convert a file in the vlc 9 version
What i did in vlc 8 :
Open the file with vlc
- File > diffusion wizard
- select transcode / save > click next
- select "item from the playlist" > click next
- dont check anything (i leave the audio video as it is) > click next
- check "MPEG PS" > click next
- choose destination file > click finish
et voilà
Now with vlc 9, i just dont get it. It won't take an item from the playlist from what i've seen, and when i tell him to pick the MPEG TS file i want to convert, the conversion doesn't start at all.
What am i missing and why has it become so difficult? It was so intuitive before...
