First let me start off and say that VLC Media player has saved the day for me. I was on a great fishing trip and recorded the whole awesome catch on a 4GB SD card that apparently went bad. I was able to extract the files off the SD card using a Freeware program called Zero Assumption Recovery. The MP4 files were unreadable. I would get an error message saying "ERROR -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in this movie.

I read in a blog that VLC would probably read it and it did!!!! Now I need to somehow to save the files in a readable format so I can burn CDs for my buddies on the trip.

PLease let me know how I can do that....PLEASE?!!?!

Try using the Wizard ?

File - Wizard
Click Transcode option
select original file ???.MP4

click Next

Click Transcode Audio and Video options
select file formats MPEG4 from drop down menus

click Next

Enter file name to save as ???.mp4 (not the same as original or it will delete it.

Click Finish and wait for transcode to finish.

Above should do the trick and save a new copy of the file ???
