Volume scale not linear?

Hi,

I'm trying out VLC now and it seems great - very configurable. But I find the volume scale a bit confusing. I know that dB's are on a logarithmic scale, but I expected the volume control to be linear.

However, 100% doesn't sound twice as loud as 50%. They are almost the same to me. Also, 200% is much softer than twice 100%.

Am I the only one who experiences this?

VLC 0.9.3
Windows XP SP3

thanks,
Francois

Well, it depends on the sound driver, sorry.

100% means 256 and 200% means 512
400% is 1024
