I get :
"Unable to open 'http/shout-winamp://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/newxml.phtml'"

a crazy, invalid, link, a while into playing *any* type of media.
why ? -how to get rid of it ?

upgraded - it seems to have been fixed

I am now having this problem.

version 0.9.4 on windows XP sp3

I tried to reset all the settings and uninstall VLC then reinstall VLC.
Still no luck.

Some thing to note is the invalid looking URL.
anybody have any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?

edited to hide the IP in *'s

issue solved.
I had the wrong value set in the enviromental variable http_proxy.
Changed that and all is good

I wholeheartedly believe this is a coding error in the Windows version. I have installed VLC on two Windows machines in the last two days. One was running 32-bit XP Media Center 2005 SP3, the other 64-bit Vista Ultimate SP1. In both cases, Windows was installed from scratch. In both cases VLC threw the aforementioned error when attempting to load the 'Shoutcast radio listings' under Playlists -> Additional Sources. On the Vista machine the error went away after a second attempt, then turning on the playlist view. The XP machine did not clear, even after granting VLC explicit access in Windows Firewall.
