Version 0.9.3 sort playlist

Hello,

I've just installed version 0.9.3 and it has a new behavior (compared to all previous versions since 0.8.5) : if a launch vlc this way : "vlc playlist.m3u" (command line), the items of the playlist happen to be alphabetically sorted. I don't know if it is a good idea or not, but it surely does *not* fits my need. I could not find any switch or parameter to disable this feature.

Does anyone have an idea how to disable it ? Should I do a feature request ?

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Faabrizio

Show the ID column and sort by it.

Thank you for the trick. I used to add/remove columns by right-clicking on column header, but it does not work anymore. I haven't found anything in the configuration. Can somebody tell me how to add that column, please ?

Yeah, why did you guys screw up the playlist? If it ain't broke don't fix it! I added the ID column and sorted by it, saved the playlist, closed it, opened it again, but its still playing in the wrong order. This is in .9.4 BTW. I distincly remember a right-click menu that had a move up or down menu item. Why did you get rid of that? Or maybe you highlighed one of the items and went to one of the menus and selected move up or down. I also remember a Shuffle menu item. Once again, IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!!!!

Also when I reopen the playlist, the items are mysteriously added again so there's 2 instances of each item. What the hell did you guys do. Are you coding under the influence?

Edit: I found a work around: In the playlist, right-click on the first item you want to play and start playing it that way and it will go through the playlist correctly.

YA, the sorted playlist issue has me completely screwed. I will have to revert to a previous version. My TV station can't be playing all my playlists in some sorted order!!! This is wacked! Once you sort a column, it can't be unsorted, or revert back to the unsorted state. I'm kinda pissed off, actually. What has been such a great program seems to be under some strange influence. Actually, the playlist and it's editor have always been tragically flawed. I only make playlists with WinAmp, because VLC saves playlists in the order items were added, rather than the edited order one may actually have worked to create...

My previous note is referring to version 0.9.4, by the way...

This is indeed a bug that is fixed in 0.9.5 for windows.

same problem here with "free multiposte" m3u playlist

too bad to have all my tv channels alphabetically sorted

maybe deleting ~/.vlc will reset this behavior?

You have to right-click on one of column names that's already there and then Click on ID in the menu that appears.
