Gray Screen on occasion

Hi,
This is my first post.
First off, kudos to everyone involced with VideoLan.
There is simply nothing else like it.
I wanted to ask or at least mention a problem I come across every few days or so.
I have a playlist of DIVX files I playback locally on a machine, and every now and then when a file ends, and it switches to the next file, I get a what looks like a non full screen window with extended GUI and grey window under it on top of my full screen window.
It basically covers up my video window.
Now, if I click on full screen on the movie window, it dissappears.
Any ideas?
I have seen this on three different machines, same OS version of XP SP 2.

I came across the problem again, and the screen that I am referring to is titled "VLC hardware YUV overlay DirectX output"
All I have to do is minimize that screen and all is ok.
It is just an annoying item to do every so often.
Not sure what triggers it, but it does seem to be random.
Sometimes, I do notice that when going from one file to the next, I will see a flash of the desktop screen for a second or less.
May or maynot be related.
Another note, I am using all DIVX files, and they are on the second partition of my drive.

"hardware yuv overlay directx output"

I saw this for the first time ever... my audio stopped working, but the video played fine. I reset my computer and the problem went away, but how do I fix it in the future?

Anyone ever find out what causes this?
I still continue to have issues.

Go to start = programs =VLC media player and click on the VLC media player Icone ...

The yuv overlay Direct-X output appears only if you select VLC media player (old).

VLC media player (old) ????? Please right click on that icon and select Properties and post the Target: line here.

Thank You!

While I don't have the problem as described, other users do and the devs have not been of much help on this one as it seems thus far to be hardware related. If the problem is options it would be nice to be able to back trace the problem and get it fixed. Sorry to say I haven't done an install in quite some time as I do updates using the .7z files. While the configuration is slightly different I have found it to be more convenient and easier to service users keeping several versions of VLC for reference. So I don't have that icon.
