VLC Disables Sound Buttons On Laptop

Postby rwhitisissle » 18 Sep 2008 17:30

My utmost apologies if this issue has already been addressed, but I've searched the forum and have heretofore not discovered evidence of such.

The 0.9.2 build seems to have, for me, a strange quirk. Whenever I attempt to either lower, increase, or mute the volume using the sound buttons on the front of my laptop nothing happens. This problem goes away whenever I have VLC in full-screen mode, but whenever it's in the default, non-full-screen mode that appears whenever I immediately start a video the buttons simply don't work. If I click outside of the VLC window, the buttons work again.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and, if so, does anyone have a solution?

Once again, my apologies if this issue has already been addressed.

Other people have already reported this bug but we're clueless about what the cause might be. Can you check if a bug report has been filed on http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ and if not file one? (If you have extra info compared to a previous bug report, please add it as it'll help us track it down)

Oh, and I'm sorry for being such a dunce, but what exactly am I supposed to do on the Trac website? I'm honestly not sure to file a bug report and I don't even really know what Trac is.

CloudStalker posted some instructions here: Nightly Builds - Bugs and Fixes. Hope that info is useful.
