jvlc video encoding

hi,
i need to encode a video (that means i have a lot of images and want to create a video out of the images). more precise, i've created an opengl animation and want to save it as a video.
i need to use java, so i searched for a good library. the first thing i found out was that the java media framework should not be used
so my question is, if the jvlc only can play and convert videos or if it is also possible to create videos? i would prefer a format like mpeg or any avi based format.
if that is not possible, do you know a library that allows that?
thanks, kap
