Hello,
I am a football coach and use VLC to view movies. I used to watch on them on older VHS machines that had the shuttle wheel where you could move forward and backwards though plays. I have set up the left and right arrow keys to jump forward and jump back, but what I would really like to do is have them play forward and reverse and then make the up and down arrow keys the speed. Is this possible, if so, how? If not, any other ideas?

Thanks,
wildrobo

You can't play reverse in VLC. But you can use the '+' and '-' keys to play slower or faster (you can change those key assignments in the preferences) You'll still have to use another key (or the seek bar) to jump back in your video.

Note that the upcoming 0.9.<something> release will also feature sound when playing videos slower or faster than normal speed.
