Network Sync - Not Streaming

I'm trying to get the Network Synchronization feature working but am failing horribly. I would like to have a couple computers on my network all play the same file locally (no streaming) and synchronize the playback. I'd rather not stream it so that I don't run into any lagg issues and to reduce the CPU usage. If all the computers have the file anyway I'd like to just play the original on each so it sounds perfect. Is there any way to get VLC to use the network to synchronize the playback? I need it primarily for music now, but for videos in the car on long road trips that would be awesome as well. Thanks!
