VLC is slow in skipping forward

Hi,
first: Sorry, for my bad English!

My problem: I always had the problem, that skipping a movie for a few minutes forward or back, that VLC reacts very slow! First I hear the sound, sometimes I see first some artifacts and then after a while, I see the movie! Indeed Quicktime skips just in the moment forward where you press the mouse button! This problem exists since years and it's really annoying!!!
The advantange that VLC supports a lot of codecs, is to important for me, due to resign VLC.

Surely you guys heard this critique a lot of time and I and many others, too, would be glad and grateful, if you would work on this problem!

Thank you!

Best regards
Stefano

iMac 24" Core2Duo 2.8 GHz (Penryn), 2 GB, Mac OS X 10.5.4.

I saw this problems on others computers with Windows, too. I always had this problem, doesn't matter if I used Windows-PCs or Macs.

Best regards

Hi, I use MacBookPro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 with 4 GB RAM on OS X 10.5.4

I've installed VLC 0.8.6i Janus and am disappointed by the fact, that whenever I want to forward a film, the program crashes.

Is there a solution in sight? I was always happy to use older versions on previous OS. If you fix that bug, I will financially support vlc again.-)
