Distorted AUDIO on TV (VLC's audio enhancements?)

Postby pedroL » 13 Jul 2008 18:34

Hi there!

I'm new to VLC and my knowledge on this great media player isn't that good...
So, I would like some help regarding the audio configuration...

SOME INFO:
I connect my laptop to my TV (regular one) to watch movies and tv shows!
The audio connection is done by a simple RCA->SCARTadapter!
When using other media players like QuickTime I have no problem...

THE "PROBLEM":
When using VLC to play video or audio on my TV, the sound becomes distorted and "makes the TV sound vibrate"! Almost like if it was too loud or with too much bass!
Perhaps VLC has some kind of audio configuration that enhances sound and my TV's "speakers" aren't good enough to handle it!
I believe this "problem" can be solved by adjusting something in the audio output configuration in VLC, but I have no clue about what to do...
As you can see, I'm not very familiarized with the specific terms, but I hope somone more experienced understands what I'm trying to discribe...
How could I "disable" those enhancements so that the audio is configured in a "normal and basic" way?
How could I stop my TV from distorting the audio?

Thanks for your time and your help!
