How to configure UDP port for RTSP session

Hello everybody

can somebody help me with pre-setting the UDP port for an rtsp stream in the VLC client?

What I wanted to do is to simply open a RTSP stream (via file-> network stream). The URL looks like
rtsp://xxxx:8553/filename.ts

when I look on the IP trace I see that the VLC is offering our streaming server for each session randomly a new port range. Unfortunately this is not very nice as I need to change always the NAT/Firewall settings on our internal office network so that a certain UDP port range is forwarded to my PC. And because VLC is changing it constantly I am a little bit lost.

So is there a possibility to set somewhere in VLC the UDP port for an RTSP stream?

There is an RTP client port setting in the preferences.

this setting is automatically disabled when you select RTSP and fill an URL. So that does not help

RTSP is not supposed to work through firewalls anyway.

I have the same problem.. VLC wants to open odd UDP ports to WAN when coming from behind router in WAN. Through 3G RTSP works great and with set-port.

what are the magic commadline parameters to produce proper tcp-suitable stream? :rtp.... ?
