How do you organise your video collection?

I'm interested to know how everyone organises their video library, mostly the digitised content VLC can play.
Two reasons
1) I have a reasonable sized library and find scrolling through a list of directories a poor way of selecting a movie to watch.
2) Some interest has been shown in adding a library function to VLC, so knowing what features are valued may help define a new VLC capability. See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47240
I would like to be able to sit at my home media player, and have it help me choose a movie e.g. a
G animated movie for the kids or
romantic comedy with high imdb rating or
Then read the review on http://www.imdb.com/ or http://au.rottentomatoes.com/ then play the movie
Software which appears to do assist in managing a movie collection that I'm aware of includes:
abcAVI Tag Editor http://www.exefind.com/abcavi-tag-editor-P21011.html
Reads AVI tags, imports data IMDB
Personal Video Database http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/
can scan files, lookup multiple online databases, ongoing active development
Ant Movie Catalogue http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog/features
Was popular but it appears as if further development has slowed or stopped
Limited support for mass importing avi http://forum.antp.be/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=229
IMDB Movie DB http://www.dancemammal.com/moviedb.htm
eXtreme Movie Manager http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/
Sounds OK, ongoing development. Requires registration 10 euros
Wish list http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=769
Mass import and updating database after files moves a little cryptic
Moving movie location via search & replace http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3518
Database move via copy folder tree http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2192
Batch add http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2092
Linking hard disc scan to movie database http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3445
Does anyone have any experience in these, or other movie database / tagging programs and can comment on their strengths & weaknesses?
