brightness control

I am running BT848 capture card with a newer usb cam. VLC captures fine , but the video is extremely bright. I thought I saw a "bright" command on a config I ran across a while ago, but cannot find it today. What would I add to the following vlm-conf to adjust brightness, contrast, etc. ?

new cam broadcast enabled
setup cam input v4l:/dev/video1:v4l-norm=1
setup cam output "#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=128,scale=1,acodec=mpga,ab=64,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=ts,dst=10.1.1.34:1234}}"
setup cam enabled
control cam play
