Listening to the Radio with my Bookmarks

Postby Lyla » 19 Apr 2008 11:47

I'd like to bookmark some radio stations.

The problem is that when I'm opening a link to the selected radio station, it gets opened in the web browser
Is there any way to open a streaming radio in an external applications, like VLC Media Player?

In Firefox3 there will be an option for this one
But still, some of the Streaming Radio links are http:// (no mms://)

Classical KUSC

Code: Select all

http://128.125.204.54:2345/kuscaudio96.mp3 http://128.125.204.54:2345/kuscaudio.mp3
Or just an http:// that splits to a few mms://s

For istance, there is an Israeli radio station (Kol Hamusica) that:

Code: Select all

http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=31&ar=Kol_Hamusica ├─mms://s4bwm.castup.net/990310008-52.wmv?ct=IL&rg=BZ&aid=31&st=0&ts=0&cu=4BCFBC28-FF65-4B6A-8E48-484A02CD899F ├─mms://s4awm.castup.net/990310008-52.wmv?ct=IL&rg=BZ&aid=31&st=0&ts=0&cu=4BCFBC28-FF65-4B6A-8E48-484A02CD899F ├─mms://s39wm.castup.net/990310008-52.wmv?ct=IL&rg=BZ&aid=31&st=0&ts=0&cu=4BCFBC28-FF65-4B6A-8E48-484A02CD899F ├─mms://s34wm.castup.net/990310008-52.wmv?ct=IL&rg=BZ&aid=31&st=0&ts=0&cu=4BCFBC28-FF65-4B6A-8E48-484A02CD899F └─mms://s36wm.castup.net/990310008-52.wmv?ct=IL&rg=BZ&aid=31&st=0&ts=0&cu=4BCFBC28-FF65-4B6A-8E48-484A02CD899F
I'd like to save the http:// only, without all the subordinates mms://s

So, do you know a URI_scheme that fits for this kind of situation?
I want to open a link to a streaming media via a one click on a bookmark (and that is should be opened in an external app)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Simon

If the solution that I'm looking for doesn't exist, then I really hope that you'll implement such thing in the future.

And if you do, then do it wisely, cause you're not letting me to associate mms:// etc. etc. and cause of this I see this ugly massage (thank god that mozilla did something with it in FF3)
