How Good Of An Audio Player Is VLC

I first want to start out saying since I've used VLC when it first came out, I have never ever used this player for anything other then playing videos and I've never ever considered it until now, how it might be for audio playback when compared to the other popular audio players.

Personally to me VLC is about video and nothing else, so I ask this question, how good of an Audio player is VLC when compared to the big names in Audio?

Do you think VLC should just stick to being a video player?

THANKS

Well, VLC is not that bad for audio. It knows a lot of format but:

* It doesn't have a media library (fixed in next version)
* It doesn't read some lossless audio (as APE) ( fixed in next version)
* It doesn't support all the metadatas (APEv2 tags, for example) (fixed in next version)
* It doesn't support album art (fixed in next version)
* It doesn't do gapless audio...

Wow, it's good to know VLC will be able to support APE lossless format for the next version. :D

I'd say that VLC is quite good for audio playback but as can be said of many other media players out "there's room for improvement". 8)
