How to play .m2v + .m2v together?

Hi,

I have just converted an .avi file to a separate video + audio stream.
I wanted to check if everything was fine and discovered that VLC, although the files are in the same folder, plays either the video or th audio stream on their own, but not together, like for instance WMP does.

I am sure there is a way but cannot find it, can you help?
