VLC won't play videos created with mencoder *SOLVED*

I am using mencoder to create a video from a series of JPEGs and a PCM wave file. VLC will only play the audio track in the resulting file. I've tried using x264, xvid, libdv, and lavc video codec in mencoder. VLC will not play any of them. Both mplayer and kaffeine (linux) will play the file fine. I've tried VLC (0.8.6a and 0.8.6b) on both Windows XP SP2 and on Linux. Any ideas why this is?

It turns out that my vlc config (which is the same on all of my testing machines) was somehow incompatible with my files. I removed all of the filters and it worked.

Te only filter that's on (in h.264) by default is the loop filter.
