Screen capture fps...help

Postby Elias[-SiS-] » 21 May 2007 13:16

Hi

i want to screen capture a videogame action and then stream it to another vlc (via rtp, coding mp4v) hosted in remote server in order to broadcast (via http, ASF)

everything works, but i cannot screen capture in a smooth way, it is not fluid, even if i save the captured screen in a local file...or even if i simply capture my desktop moving simple windows

i know that there are preferences to set up, but i cannot find the right way to set them (output stream with transcoding i suppose)

please help!

have you tried saving raw with a fps of ca. 25 or so? you can always transcode later or are you wanting to do a live broadcast?

in your trancode section. for example. one of mine is as follows.

vlc.exe -vvv -I rc --reset-config --no-audio dshow:// --dshow-vdev="USB PC Camera (SN9C102)" --dshow-adev="none" --no-dshow-config --sout #transcode{vcodec="mp4v",vb="128",fps="25",channel=1}:duplicate{dst=display,dst=rtp{dst="192.168.1.2",ttl="127",sdp="rtsp://192.168.1.2/vlc.sdp",port-video="1234"}}

as you can see the fps is set in the trancode call. be advised though that the above is streamed to a vlc relay server for multicasting and the fps setting on the multicasting server seems to break the vlc client connections once the broadcaster starts streaming. not sure why atm but use the fps setting only on the broadcaster.

if I can find out why the above happens I'll post.

thank you very much

i tried to add fps parameter, setting it to 25, 30, 50, 100 but the file saved result by screen:// is not smooth...perhaps any other parameter?

anyone has never done a smooth video of his screen?

Video smoothness is a function of the audio card and drivers as VLC uses sync.
