MMSH and proxies? Can someone clarify the current situation?

I'm reading mixed reports about mmsh via proxy. The bug filed about it says it was fixed in April, but I can't find any suggestions about it actually being fixed in any builds.

That's really annoying because it means I have to run Windows Media Player to access a stream I like listening to. And that means I have to have my laptop sitting on my desk beside me, because my desktop is running Linux.

OK. No one?
It appears it's still not happening, as when I have proxy info in, I still get a timeout attempting to connect to port 80.

Not that it matters, because the day after I asked, the stream I wanted to listen to started including a video ad on first connection, which causes VLC to spack out when it switches to the audio.

Hi I was one of the Bug reporter

http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/629

the mms_proxy is used by nightlies but not by 0.8.6x series , weirdly .

It seems that this changeset has not been backported.

So play mms through http proxy works well with nightly but as convert to a file failed it's useless for me ...

Let's wait for 0.9.0 then ..

I managed compile my own from source, but haven't managed to get it to do WMA yet... I think I might need the Windows Media DLL files in a different dir since VLC is now installed to a different place to what I used to have it with the Debian packages.

Pity the nightly builds for Debian aren't for Stable. I could just use them if they were...

You can get 0.9.0 builds on http://nightlies.videolan.org if you want to test. (Nothing else is needed, VLC is completely stand alone)
