Hi, is it possible to install VLC player on Nokia N73?

Currently it has Real Player installed (it is preinstalled and there when you buy the phone). And that is the worse player ever, it can't play anything.

Technical specifications for Nokia N73:

As far as I know, is there no Symbian port of VLC.

The Realplayer on the Nokia N73 isn't that bad.
You can play 3GP files with H.263, MPEG4 SP@L0-3(till 352x288 with 15fps) and H.264 Baseline@Level 1.2 (till 320x240 with 15fps) as far as I remember.
AAC(sbr+ps) is supported too. And the Realplayer comes with rtsp support, not bad for the default player on a cell phone,IMHO.

It can not play divx/xvid and most of my stuff is *.avi with xvid as a codec. Then I need to convert it to 3GP and that is one long time consuming process every time you want to copy something on your phone and you want it fast.

Will VLC support symbian in the future?

You could try if the DivX Mobile Player ( http://mobile.divx.com/ ) can play your files. But I don't know which resolutions are supported by the DivX Mobile Player, try it out. The CPU of your Series 60 3rd Edition cell phone is probably not fast enough for bigger resolutions. If this is the case you need to convert your files too.

Use TCPMP.
There is no port of Symbian because lack of developers and knowledge.

Use TCPMP...
There is no CorePlayer(TCPMP) available for S60 3rd until know, AFAIK.
But a release seems planned ( http://www.corecodec.com/forums/index.php?topic=65.0 )
