window-position-restore & window-size-restore

would be nice if vlc could remember the window-position. so on new launch it opens at the position where it was closed.

same with the window-size!

The problem is that VLC currently has no way to implement this...
VLC has preferences, but these are persistent and user controlled. (As in not something the program itself should edit [for remembering window position etc])

And i don't really feel like introducing a second preferences file for this (although this is the way OSX handles this. OSX itself keeps score of these kind of things in seperate preferences files. No intervention from VLC occurs).

the problem i have:


i have my filemanager at my second screen. now starting a file from that also opens vlc at the second screen. but i want it to open on my first screen, so that i don't have to move it manually to it.

so window-restoring is not absolutely necessary. on option to force vlc to open on my first screen would be enough.

hi,

i do have a similar problem as yours...i want to change the size and position....how r u doing it???...i dont know how to set the size and position of the directX output window and "play locally" window???....

and i would be happy if u tell me in which part of the code i have to modify the size and position of the window....and am working on your query..the only difference is am using another application to invoke vlc as a command line option and i have to store all my client's preferences and invoke VLC each time..
